With over 16 years of expertise in the handloom sector, Sujata Mukherjee is a defining voice in textile conservation. A Diploma holder in Fashion Design, her journey began at the source—interning with the master weavers of Varanasi, where she mastered the intricate technicalities of the pit loom and yarn tension.

Before founding Sujatam, Sujata honed her craft in Merchandising and Quality Control for internationally acclaimed designers, ensuring that every thread met global luxury standards. Today, she is a recognized industry leader, honored as the Most Powerful Women Entrepreneur (Banarasi Segment) 2022 by the Knowledge Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and named Best Banarasi Handloom Conservationist in East India (2025) by Femina India. As a Jury Member at INIFD Saltlake, she continues to shape the future of Indian fashion, ensuring that every Sujatam creation carries the weight of professional authority and heritage authenticity.

Somenath Mukherjee is the architect of the Sujatam growth engine. An MBA in Marketing & Systems, he brings over 15 years of leadership experience from the upper echelons of the IT and Telecom industries. Having served as a Regional & Geo Head at HCL Tech and Sify, and as DGM at Reliance Communications (GCX), Somenath managed large-scale public sector projects—earning national accolades including the Sify Chairman’s Club and three consecutive HCL Top Gun awards for excellence.

His creative journey began in Mumbai, cut in the fast-paced world of brand marketing under the legendary Prahlad Kakkar. This unique blend of corporate strategy and high-level marketing is balanced by a deep-rooted passion for the arts; a 7-year Diploma holder in Painting, Somenath personally designs the Sujatam Menswear line.

Since joining the brand in 2017, he has transformed Sujatam into a digitally-forward heritage house, ensuring that every bespoke garment—from the Babughat Munga Silk to the Atelier Panjabi—is a manifestation of both artistic vision and systemic perfection.
